Equidistant quenches in few-level quantum systems

چکیده

A recent work [A. Lapolla and A. Godec, Phys. Rev. Lett. 125, 110602 (2020)] showed that among a pair of thermodynamically equidistant quenches from colder hotter initial state at fixed ambient temperature, the relaxation (uphill relaxation) is always faster, for dynamics close to stable minima. Here we show this not generically case open quantum systems with two or three energy levels. We find both faster uphill downhill symmetric thermal can be observed in quenches, depending on transition rates choice distance measure used. Furthermore, obtain phase diagram parameter space three-level system corresponding different thermalization behaviors.

Quantum Quenches in Chern Insulators.

We explore the nonequilibrium response of Chern insulators. Focusing on the Haldane model, we study the dynamics induced by quantum quenches between topological and nontopological phases. A notable feature is that the Chern number, calculated for an infinite system, is unchanged under the dynamics following such a quench. However, in finite geometries, the initial and final Hamiltonians are dis...

Quantum quenches and work distributions in ultralow-density systems.

We present results on quantum quenches in lattice systems with a fixed number of particles in a much larger number of sites. Both local and global quenches in this limit generically have power-law work distributions ("edge singularities"). We show that this regime allows for large edge singularity exponents beyond that allowed by the constraints of the usual thermodynamic limit. This large-expo...

Real-time evolution for weak interaction quenches in quantum systems

Motivated by recent experiments in ultracold atomic gases that explore the nonequilibrium dynamics of interacting quantum many-body systems, we investigate the nonequilibrium properties of a Fermi liquid. We apply an interaction quench within the Fermi liquid phase of the Hubbard model by switching on a weak interaction suddenly; then we follow the real-time dynamics of the momentum distributio...

Inhomogeneous Quantum Quenches

We study the problem of a quantum quench in which the initial state is the ground state of an inhomogeneous hamiltonian, in two different models, conformal field theory and ordinary free field theory, which are known to exhibit thermalisation of finite regions in the homogeneous case. We derive general expressions for the evolution of the energy flow and correlation functions, as well as the en...
